One of the most watched races on the Formula 1 calendar is the Australian Grand Prix, held at Albert Park. Melbourne turns into a speed festival every March, attracting enthusiasts from all over the world. Selecting the appropriate ticket is a crucial aspect of trip preparation, and Albert Park provides both flexible General Admission (referred to locally as the Park Pass) and reserved grandstand seating.

This is a comprehensive guide to the various ticket types, their features, and how to pick the best one for your race weekend.

Grandstand tickets at Albert Park

You get a reserved seat for the duration of the race weekend in the Grandstand if you go for Grandstand tickets. This guarantees comfort and fantastic views, as well as eliminating the need to rush early in the morning to secure a spot. You can still explore other areas of the circuit whenever you'd like because most grandstand tickets also grant you access to all GA and Park Pass areas.

Some of the key grandstands include:

  • Fangio (Main Grandstand): Located on the start/finish straight, this is the premium choice for fans who want to see the grid, pit lane action, start lights, and podium celebrations.
  • Jones & Brabham: Both stands sit around Turn 1 and Turn 2, giving you a close-up view of the all-important first corner battles and plenty of overtaking attempts.
  • Moss & Hill: Positioned further along the opening sector, they offer a balanced mix of straight-line speed and cornering views.
  • Ricciardo Stand: Popular with fans, it overlooks the action between Turns 3 and 4, perfect for watching wheel-to-wheel racing.
  • Stewart Stand: Located at Turn 5, it’s a great place to see cars take on mid-speed corners at close range.
  • Button, Clark, Waite, Vettel, Webber, Lauda: These are spread around the back sections of the track, giving different perspectives on the high-speed flow of Albert Park.
  • New for 2026 – Piastri Grandstand: A dedicated new stand on the main straight, opposite the pit lane, celebrating Australia’s own Oscar Piastri.

Prices vary by stand, with premium areas like Fangio and Piastri costing more than side-section stands. For 2026, prices range roughly from AUD $690 to over $1,000 for a 4-day seat.

Park Pass (General Admission)

The Park Pass is Albert Park’s version of a General Admission ticket. It’s the most affordable way to attend the Australian Grand Prix and offers plenty of flexibility.

  • Freedom to roam: Park Pass holders can move around the track and choose from multiple viewing mounds and pathways.
  • Best spots: Popular areas include Brocky’s Hill near Turn 9/10, where fans can see long stretches of the track, and the Turn 2 inside platforms, which provide excellent views of the first-corner action.
  • Festival atmosphere: With fan zones, entertainment, and large screens, the Park Pass is about more than just trackside views. It’s a great choice for groups and families who want to enjoy the event at their own pace.
  • Pricing: For 2026, a 4-day Park Pass is AUD $385, while single-day tickets start from AUD $45.

The main trade-off is that GA spots are unreserved, so you’ll need to arrive early on busy days to secure the best vantage points.

Ticket sales and presales

The general public can purchase tickets for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix starting at 12:00 PM AEST on September 10, 2025. From September 3–5, 2025, there will be an American Express presale for both Park Pass and grandstand tickets. In 2026, dynamic pricing will not be utilized, in contrast to certain other races.

Rather, the cost has already gone up in comparison to prior years, but it won't go down after you purchase your ticket.

Which ticket should you choose?

  • Pick a grandstand if you want guaranteed comfort, a specific view of the action, and don’t want to worry about arriving early to claim a spot.
  • Choose the Park Pass if you’re on a budget, enjoy exploring different angles of the track, and want to soak up the festival-style atmosphere of Albert Park.

Both options provide a fantastic way to enjoy the race — it really comes down to your budget and how you prefer to watch Formula 1.
