The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps offers more than just historic corners and unpredictable race-day weather — it's one of the most immersive weekends for fans on the F1 calendar. Between the forest backdrop and vibrant fan culture, Spa blends motorsport with atmosphere like few other circuits.

If you're making a full weekend out of it, here’s what to do when you’re not watching cars fly through Eau Rouge.

The Fan Zone: music, drivers, and sim racing

Spa’s Fan Zone is located near the Eau Rouge complex and comes to life across all three days. It features live music, interactive games, and driver appearances, giving fans a place to gather when sessions aren’t on track. This is technically not "off-track" acticity in our mind, but as the Belgian Grand Prix is in the middle of the forest, we added it to the article.

You’ll find racing simulators, food trucks, and official team shops all packed into one walkable area. The DJ lineup — including artists like Dimitri Vegas and Henri PFR — keeps things lively into the night.

Driver interviews and Q&A sessions also happen here, with top names from Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes making regular appearances. It’s a rare chance to get up close without a paddock pass.

The camping culture: more Than just a place to sleep

Camping is part of the DNA of Spa weekend. The campsites surrounding the circuit vary in size and vibe, but most share one trait: fans make their own fun. You’ll hear music late into the night, see homemade flags strung between tents, and smell barbecues going even after sundown.

Some campsites are better known for being quiet and family-friendly, while others are party zones.

Many of the campsites are within walking distance of key entrances, which means you don’t need to rely on transport during the race weekend.

Off-track adventures in the Ardennes

If you’re extending your stay or need a break from the track, the surrounding region has plenty to offer. The town of Spa — just a short drive from the circuit — is home to thermal baths, charming cafés, and relaxing green spaces.

You can also explore walking trails, historic forts, and dense forests throughout the Ardennes. The food here deserves a mention too: waffles, Trappist beers, and hearty Belgian dishes are easy to find and worth indulging in.

How much time you’ll want to spend exploring depends on how much time you want to take out of your F1 schedule, but when you travel to Belgium, at least as a foreigner then I think you should explore the area a bit.

Shopping and souvenirs

Inside the Fan Zone, you'll find all the usual official team gear, but Spa also offers more local items — from Belgian beer merch to handmade crafts sold in town. If you’re looking for something a bit different from the usual cap or shirt, this is a good race to do it.

Whether the merchandise here is worth the price really comes down to the price they charge. Normally, the merch in Spa is a little cheaper than on other races like Miami where the permium is much higher.

A weekend that builds

Each day of the Belgian Grand Prix builds toward the main event. Friday is relaxed, with early access to the Fan Zone and plenty of room to explore. Saturday brings the qualifying intensity, and Sunday is a full-blown adrenaline rush — but the off-track buzz never disappears.

Finishing up

Spa is one of those races where it’s worth arriving early, staying late, and soaking up more than just the racing. The circuit is classic, but the experience around it is evolving — from nighttime concerts to campsite cookouts to thermal spas in town.

At Fastway1.com, we aim to help fans get more out of race weekends — not just with tickets, but with ideas for what to see, where to go, and how to make it your own.
